About Me

On June 13, 2008, my first Maltese, Mandi, was attacked and killed by a larger dog. Loosing Mandi was one of the hardest lessons I have ever had to learn. It was a lesson on prey drive, managing aggressive dogs, and training. It was a lesson that started me on the path to dog training.

In 2011, I graduated from UMBC with a B.S. in Biology, I graduated from Applewoods' Dog Trainer University and became an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.

Over the last 4 years, I have had the opportunity to learn and enormous amount about dogs and to get hands on experience with a variety of different breeds. My main focus has been the Obedience ring and I have trained and shown five dogs to the following AKC titles.

  • Maltese - CD, CDX, UD, UDX, OTCH (7 High in Trials, and 11 High Combined Scores)
    • #1 Toy Dog and High Scoring Maltese at AKC's 2011 National Obedience Invitational
  • Labrador Retriever - CD, CDX (video)
  • Golden Retriever - CD
  • Labrador Retriever - CD (video)
  • German Shepherd Dog - CD (video)

I have also had the opportunity to train the following breeds to the sub-novice level: Australian Shepherd, Doberman, Jack Russel Terrier, Standard Poodle, Labrador Retrievers, Boxer, Golden Retriever, West Highland White Terrier, Leonberger, and a several mix breed dogs.

I have learned from each of those dogs and have been able to share what I have learned in group classes and private lessons. I will continue to train and teach Obedience with Rugby as my sidekick as we venture into other venues. We will keep you posted!
